Own the Files AI Studio Won't Give You
AI Studio builds a good site in minutes, then keeps it. The build does come out — and it can go straight to hosting your client owns rather than a ZIP on your desktop.
66 votes asking for one thing
There is a request on GoHighLevel's own Ideas board — “Allow AI Studio Websites to Be Continued in Sites or Exported” — carrying 66 votes. It is worth reading in full, because the people on it are not complaining about the product. They like the product. They cannot hand over what it makes.
- One UK agency owner argues that clients must be handed their website, calls holding sites “illegal and also immoral”, and names Lovable and Bolt as platforms that do allow export.
- Another says AI Studio is “very limiting and impractical” if its sites cannot be exported.
- A third kept meeting clients “wanting ownership” of their AI Studio sites and built her own workaround archive process.
- A fourth frames the gap as “long-term portability and client handoff”, and notes it matters more as AI Studio moves to token pricing.
- The original poster simply wants it out “as HTML/CSS files… Like Lovable.”
The AI Studio dead end
AI Studio generates a real project. You can see the code in its editor. What it does not give you is a way out — no download, no repository, no deploy target that is yours. The site lives where it was made and stays there. For an agency that is not a feature complaint, it is a business problem: the handoff conversation has no good ending.
Getting the build out
- Open the AI Studio site and run the Hatch extension. It reads the project from the tab you already have open, in your browser, and writes a clean ZIP to your machine.
- Open the wizard and connect your own GitHub. The project lands in a repository in your name — or in your client's name, which is the point.
- Connect Cloudflare. The wizard publishes it to Pages and you get a live URL.
No account is needed for the extension itself and nothing is transmitted to us. That is not a marketing line; it is why the extension can read a project you are signed in to without us ever holding it.
What does not come with it
The front end. That is the honest scope. CRM records, workflows, form backends and automations stay in GoHighLevel and need rebuilding or reconnecting elsewhere. Anyone promising otherwise for an AI Studio export is describing a product that does not exist.
Compared with VibeEscape
VibeEscape (escapeghl.com) is the other tool aimed at this. It is a Chrome extension, AI Studio only, $59 one-time for unlimited exports, and it pulls the React project source through the AI Studio code editor. Its own positioning is ownership — “One payment. Your files. Your freedom.” — and it is explicit that it does not export CRM, workflows or contacts.
It is a clean product and the files-in-hand model is a real model. The difference is what happens next: VibeEscape hands you the files and points at free hosts. Hatch does the hosting step for you, into accounts you own. If you are comfortable deploying a project yourself, that difference may not be worth anything to you. If you are handing a site to a client this afternoon, it is the whole job.
Get your site out and live on hosting you own.
Hatch pulls the front end out of the builder and publishes it to your own GitHub and Cloudflare Pages. Starter £29, Studio £97, Agency £297.
